Apologies for firing a picture of Rupe’ at your inbox before you’ve even had your coffee. But in my defence, how could I lead on anything but the Press Gazette comment piece from Kelvin MacKenzie in which he says The Sun is doomed because it’s capitulated to ‘lefty activists’. ???

To be fairer to Mr MacKenzie than he’s ever been to anyone, he has a job to do; he’s trying to drum up interest in his 2023 launch The Daily Disclosure. This is the usual print is dying BS (we know) but with a nasty ‘Woke’ wrapper to stoke up the Culture War that sits at the feeble beating heart of his business plan.

MacKenzie believes ‘centre right’ outlets (even Elmo over at Twitter) have lost ads because activists have threatened boycotts over a Gammon-flavoured list of social issues. Apparently the left can publish ‘any old nonsense about the skint and the dim’ and the ads ‘pour in’. Right enough, that’ll be why the UK press is such a bastion of social justice. ???
