The Publisher Podcast Awards, run by the Media Voices team, have extended the closing deadline for another week, with entries able to be submitted until Friday November 29th.
The awards are designed to celebrate the podcasting success of publishers and media organisations, whether they’ve been in the podcasting space a while or have just launched their first one.
There are 10 categories available to enter for the first year, focusing on news, entertainment, technology, health, sport and more. There are also categories for niche and specialist podcasts, as well as branded episodes and series.
Esther Kezia Thorpe: “Having worked with the team for the past few years to get the Media Voices podcast past its milestone of 100 episodes, I’m really excited about the brand’s first extension into the Publisher Podcast Awards.
“It means so much to be able to celebrate the achievements of other podcasts in a ceremony dedicated to publishers and media organisations who are doing some brilliant things in the podcasting space.”
Peter Houston: “There are other podcast awards out there and they do an amazing job highlighting general excellence. But we spend a lot of time talking to media people and it became clear that there was nothing celebrating the work newspapers, magazines and websites are doing to add brilliant podcasts to their media mix.
“This just seems like such a natural next step for Media Voices.”
Chris Sutcliffe: “I’ve been in love with the podcast format for well over a decade now. Some of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences I’ve had with any media have come in the form of the podcast, from the lavishly produced ones put out by international news brands to the slapped-together homegrown community ones.
“Though investment in the format has been slow to date, I’m incredibly excited by some of the trends we’re seeing around investment in a format that allows for intimate, one-to-one relationships between a publisher and audience at a time when that engagement is more vital than ever.
“Honestly, when we founded TheMediaBriefing podcast it was purely for the thrill of producing a weekly podcast; I’m delighted that we now have the opportunity to reward the publishers who have similarly taken the plunge, and who do it far better and bigger than we could ever do ourselves!”
Entries close on 29th November, and the awards themselves will be given out at a ceremony in the evening of Wednesday 4th March 2020, at Proud Cabaret City, London.
