Media Voices are pleased to announce the first three judges for the inaugural Publisher Podcast Awards. Entries for the awards are opening in September, with the celebrations taking place on Wed 4th March 2020 in London.
Julia Raphaely, CEO, Associated Media Publishing
Julia Raphaely is the CEO of Associated Media Publishing, South Africa’s leading independent publisher of women’s media brands such as Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping and Marie Claire.
Julia says: “Podcasting as a medium is starting to really gain traction worldwide as well as locally. As publishers, podcasts are such a great addition to what we already offer in adding extra dimensions to current, successful content. South Africans have got the podcast bug, and podcast listenership in South Africa is growing exponentially.”
Madhav Chinnappa, Director of News Ecosystem Development, Google
Madhav Chinnappa heads up everything Google has to do with the news ecosystem at Google’s London HQ, from looking after the Google News Initiative to building the relationship between publishers and the tech giant.
Madhav says: “I’m very optimistic about the wider future of podcasts. I do think they might be close to being over-hyped in the short term, but I think the medium of audio and the convenience of podcasting are winning elements in the long term. How podcasts get monetised will be the key next success factor, in my opinion!”
Jemima Villanueva, Executive Director EMEA, The Atlantic
Jemima Villanueva is the Executive Director for EMEA at The Atlantic, a US news magazine brand which opened offices in London just two years ago.
Jemima says: “I am very excited about the wider future of podcasts – we have a lot more growth to see yet. We also haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of the creative possibilities that this medium opens up for brands.”
